About the Russian Language
Russian is the official language of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and, of course, Russia. It is the most widely spoken native language in all of Eurasia and the most common written form is Cyrillic which comprises 33 letters.
The Russian language is a rich one - it is soaked with many hundreds of proverbs and sayings. For the plupart these originate from the seventeenth century and have been collected and studied in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries with folk-tales being an especially fertile source.
The nature of the Russian language lends itself to compounding and, as such, the total number of words in Russian is difficult as so many new diminutives and compounds can be readily created on a whim.
