A tale of two cities – SwitchstanceIT partners with Web-Translations

There has always been a friendly business rivalry between Leeds and Sheffield, understandable when you consider that the two cities are only 40 miles apart, and happen to be the 3rd and 5th largest cities in the UK (I’ll let you fight it out among yourselves which one is which!).

It’s common practice for businesses anywhere to look close to home when seeking a partner to deliver a project that may be outside their own remit, or involve a highly specialised area, such as translation. Leeds-based Web-Translations was therefore delighted to be approached by Sheffield company SwitchstanceIT, who had a client in need of a multilingual website.

SwitchstanceIT was set up in 2011 by IT consultant Matthew Cuff. The company has won several prestigious clients and awards already, and expanded to employ 4 members of staff, including an apprentice, and Programme Manager Angela Stead.

It was the friendship between Angela and Web-Translations’ Marketing Manager Cassandra Oliver that resulted in the company working on the website localisation for Switchstance’s client in the wind turbine industry.
Web-Translations specialises in website localisation, which made them a natural choice for this project. I’ve known Cassandra since we were at university and, besides her 12 years’ experience in the translation industry, because she’s been involved in small businesses throughout her career I know she understands how important it is for us to work with companies we can rely on as partners. ” says Angela.

Switchstance’s client wanted to expand its reach in Europe, and decided to target France, Germany and Spain with a localised website. Switchstance was selected to deliver the new design for the website, and brought Web-Translations on board to provide the language versions.

Web-Translations has a network of thousands of specialised translators, and so was able to match the exact technical experience and skill set of the client’s industry. An experienced project manager, Jennifer Rodgers, ensured that everything went smoothly and the work was delivered on time. The client was extremely happy with the results, commenting that they were “thrilled” with their new website.
