Google’s Winter Olympics Doodle Is Very Diplomatic

With all the controversy surrounding the Winter Olympics in Sochi this month, it’s not surprising that a number of large brands have opened up their marketing campaigns to supporting equality in sport. Today’s Google Doodle is dedicated to the slopes and rinks of the Games, but it takes a few interesting but subtle angles to make a statement. As well as using the colours of the LGBT+ flag, the doodle is accompanied by a quote from the Olympic Charter:

“The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.”

Needless to say, we’re very on board with the notion of solidarity and equal rights. Google are very adept at handling serious situations like this, and once again they have nailed the balance and tone perfectly.
